Education loans in India for studying abroad
Collateral vs non-collateral education loans, typical ticket sizes, and what lenders ask Indian students before a study-abroad disbursement.
What lenders actually underwrite
Public-sector banks want collateral for larger tickets. NBFCs and specialised lenders can do non-collateral up to a cap, at a higher rate, with stricter university lists. Your admission letter, fee demand, co-applicant income, and CIBIL score matter more than a consultant brochure.
Use a consultant only for documents, not for the loan decision
A good agency helps assemble the fee structure and I-20 or CAS. They should not lock you to one lender for a kickback. Get quotes from at least two banks and one specialised lender. Ask who receives the disbursement: the university or your account.
Next step: browse consultants in your city and compare three agencies with this checklist in hand.
